You couldn't ask for a more beautiful day to be out on the water today! The weather brought us gorgeous conditions, calm seas, and great company. We headed out to the local structure with our sights set firmly on bottom fish, and while the fish didn't completely cooperate with our plans, it was still a fantastic day to be on the ocean.
Here is the breakdown from today's trip:
🎣 The Bottom Fishing Breakdown
- Black Sea Bass & Ling: Our main targets for the day were sea bass and ling. We managed to put some quality fish in the boat, finding a steady enough pick on the wrecks and rock piles to keep things interesting.
- The Bite: The sea bass were a bit more finicky than usual today and weren't quite as hungry as they normally are this time of year. We had to work a little harder for them and didn't completely fill the box this time around, but that's exactly why they call it fishing and not catching! Every single day out on the water is different, and adjusting to the shifting moods of the fish is all part of the game.
- Tautog (Blackfish): We also had some fun unexpected action today, landing a couple of beautiful tog. Since tautog is currently out of season, these stubborn fighters were handled with care and safely released right back into the structure to fight another day.
